VISUAL AND CRITICAL STUDIES
at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
2009
Recent events have demanded radical intervention into the entangled world of politics and exchange. At the same time, artists and theorists who invest in a network of ideas,* affect,* and materiality* continue to create an infrastructure that is too important to dismiss-- and TOO BIG TO FAIL. This exhibition brings into conversation a group of artists whose work predicates and transforms concepts of cultural objecthood, practices of perception, imaginary structures, and changing forms of embodiment.*
