VISUAL AND CRITICAL STUDIES

I am investigating what it is to be human.  To live in a body.  To experience the body as it lives, as it is lived.  I am investigating my body, my experiences, my memories, my abnormality, my disability.  These explorations are pushing me to ask questions about the gaze, the stare, the medical gaze, able-bodied vs. the opposite (disabled?), and the experience of the everyday.  

I am using my own experiences and memories as the jumping off point to enter a larger conversation.  Through the examination of my own personal histories, I can better gain a grounding of that of the collective history of the body as experienced everyday.
